To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Society for Applied Philosophy is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for the SAP 30th Anniversary Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
The Fellowship is tenable for one-year in association with a UK Philosophy Department to work on a clearly defined research project in any area of practical or applied philosophy. The salary is at the lowest spinal point of the grade 6 scale (approx. £24k), plus on-costs (National Insurance and pension contributions, and London Allowance where appropriate).
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to all applicants who a) have not yet held a permanent academic position and b) have received a PhD in Philosophy or a related discipline within the past five years (excluding parental leave). Candidates who have not defended their PhD by 30 April 2012 are ineligible.
The successful applicant must have sponsorship from a UK Philosophy Department. Applicants must include in their application a letter of support from the proposed host Department.
The successful applicant will organise a panel related to his/her project at the 2013 Society for Applied Philosophy annual conference.

Applications must include five copies of the following items:
• a cover letter
• a curriculum vitae (3 sides of A4 max.)
• an outline of the proposed research (1000 words max.)
• evidence of receipt of PhD within five years (excluding periods of parental leave).
• a letter of sponsorship from the Head of the UK Philosophy Department at which the award would be held.
• the names of three referees who have been asked to submit references
Each application should be independently stapled or paper-clipped in the above order. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

To be considered, applicants must ask three academic referees (one of whom should be the PhD supervisor) to write directly to the address above providing references in support of the application. In total, five copies of each reference are required.
